59414aKINGMAN – A transient looking for a warm place to sleep was arrested Monday after he broke into the Mohave County Administration Building.

Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Anthony Reyes Fierro, 33, a transient, Monday morning for felony burglary and criminal damage.

At 8:34 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the Mohave County Administration building at 700 W. Beale St. for a reported burglary. Deputies contacted County Risk Manager Robert Prince. Prince told deputies that video surveillance showed a man wearing a jacket and a black beanie breaking the front door of the building and then entering the building at around 3 a.m.

A county security guard also told deputies that at 8 a.m., a county employee told him that a man was sleeping in the stairwell. The guard said the man, later identified as Fierro, told him he was cold and entered the building about 10 minutes earlier with some employees.

The guard tried to get Fierro to stay in the building while he contacted Prince, but Fierro left.

At about 9 a.m, deputies located Fierro walking east on Andy Devine Avenue from the Beale Street intersection and detained him. Fierro allegedly said that he entered the building because he was cold and that he did not take anything. Fierro was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail without incident.
