Sex Spa More Exposed
Desert Hot Springs – “Get your ass out of here” said city officials to a television reporter inquiring about a sex spa operating in the city.
In the video report one councilman was clearly agitated with Mike Daniels; the KESQ TV3 reporter who went undercover discovering what was going on in an illegal sex club operating in the city. The video aired Sunday May 23 on the evening news.
After the city manager refused to talk on camera the news reporter was confronted by city councilman Karl Baker about the subject of the Sea Mountain Spa Hotel. Baker aggressively moved towards the reporter saying abruptly, “Get your ass out of here” before Baker admits, on camera, he had been inside the sex spa.
Previous reports by this newspaper described the 15 room Sea Mountain sex club violating the city’s code enforcement ordinance parking dozens of cars on the dirt lots next door with guests removing car license plates disguising attendance at the spa promoting open sex with multiple partners.
The very existence of the business is in violation of a city ordinance (Municipal Code 118.03 Section C.) according to KESQ. The sex club is not open to the general public. Only couples and single women are allowed as guests.
The existence of the sex spa is a poorly kept secret. At least two current and two former city council members knew about the popular world famous sex club on San Marcos Drive, just off Palm. It’s widely advertised on the Internet and it’s impossible to miss cars choking narrow residential street on weekends.
On a busy weekend sometimes as many as 100 cars fill the neighborhood surrounding the business advertising 200 guests being served at one time. “We provide condoms and lube,” said Samantha, a Sea Mountain employee, as reported by KESQ.
Unlimited free margaritas and wine also keeps guests well lubricated despite the fact the business does not posses a liquor license.
“There’s naked bodies everywhere,” Samantha said on television, “At night we turn the massage room into a playroom.” According to Trip Advisor website the orgy is not limited to rooms but the carryings on are also carried on outside.
The KESQ TV reporter was videotaped asking City Manager Rick Daniels for an interview with Daniels backing out of camera range saying, “No.”
Neighbors of Sea Mountain wrote to this newspaper complaining about noise, trash and parking congestion claiming numerous calls to the police have resulted in no improvement for their situation. The city manager disputes this is the case.
“There’s never been any complaints,” the city manager said in a previous interview. “It’s none of my business what goes on there.” This statement by the man hired to run the city helps explain why the sex spa is immune from enforcement of city zoning, heath, public safety and noise regulations and why state liquor laws and vehicle codes are ignored.
Another worry not addressed by the city turning a blind eye to the sex spa is the lack of emergency fire exits. The fortress like structure is accessible by only one gate lacking panic hardware. That gate is always locked. One other gate is barb-wired shut and more barbed wire surrounds perimeter fencing. In the event of a catastrophe the lives of up to 200 fun loving people are at risk.
We’re not sure how best to end this story except with an odd reminder that last year councilman Karl Baker insulted fire department personnel saying women firefighters who work in the dispatcher office were “call girls.”

What goes on behind closed doors between consenting adults is no ones business, at home, a hotel or this Spa.
If there are code violations then those items need to be addressed, but I sense most complainers are morally offended and looking for any reason to make a complaint.
As for folks taking the plates off their cars who can blame them?
Who would use that information? The morality freaks and people looking to smear or publicly embarrass these folks. If the same scrutiny was applied to the closed doors of many homes and couples the morality folks would freak out.
