On Monday, December 9, 2013, at 8:30 p.m., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic collision in the area of Yellow Sage Drive and Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert, CA.

The investigation determined a Nissan Altima coupe was travelling east on Fred Waring Drive when the driver turned north onto Yellow Sage Drive.  The driver failed to negotiate the turn and drove up onto the center median causing minor damage to the vehicle.  The driver and all occupants exited the vehicle at which time one of the passengers re-entered the vehicle and drove south on Yellow Sage Drive.  The second driver turned into a parking lot for the neighborhood pool on Orange Blossom Lane and drove up over a curb where the vehicle came to rest.  Officers arrived on scene to find a female adult sitting behind the wheel of the vehicle and witnesses at the scene placed a male adult behind the wheel during the first collision.

The drivers of the Nissan Altima were determined to be Dominique Longo, age 21, of Palm Desert, and Charlene Sullivan, age 23, of Bermuda Dunes.  Both Dominic Longo and Charlene Sullivan were arrested for suspicion of DUI and later booked into the Riverside County Jail located in the City of Indio.

No injuries were sustained and it is believed that alcohol consumption was a factor in both collisions.

This investigation is continuing and the department is asking anyone that may have witnessed this collision to contact the Palm Desert Police Department’s Traffic Division at 760-836-1600 reference case #T133430116.
