On Monday, October 14, 2013 at approximately 11:40 PM, Erik N. Bryant, 23, of 29 Palms, CA, was driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger southbound on Amboy Road, north of Bell King Road, at a high rate of speed. Bryant lost control of his vehicle negotiating a curve in the roadway and his vehicle left the road, overturning in the desert west of Amboy Road.
Bryant was transported by ground to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC) for treatment of minor injuries.
Scott R. King, 21, of 29 Palms was seated in the right front seat and was ejected in the collision due to not wearing a seatbelt. King was transported by helicopter to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.
Alyssa M. Canales, 23, of 29 Palms was seated in the right rear seat and was transported by helicopter to DRMC for treatment of moderate injuries.
Joshua S. Bowling, 21, of 29 Palms was seated in the left rear seat and was transported by ground to DRMC for treatment of minor injuries.
CHP Officer Ryan Swanson is investigating this collision.
CHP reminds all motorists to watch their speed and never drive faster than the road conditions permit. If your vehicle travels off the road onto the sand shoulder, resist the urge to quickly jerk the steering wheel toward the pavement- slowly, and in a controlled manner, steer your vehicle back onto the pavement.
