Twentynine Palms – City Staff is recommencing the Council pierce the veil of taxpayers’ Reserve funds because Theatre 29 want s taxpayers to pay for their new snazzy electronic sign.
This is an audacious and dangerous move because it will set a precedent for the City Council to raid Reserve funds to donate money to nonprofit organizations.
This is a very dangerous precedent, if not an illegal donation. As you can see, Reserves funds are in jeopardy of being invaded at the urging of Theatre 29 thespians for their own use and casino use .
A majority of the Council are are expected to embrace this midnight run of city reserves. Council Members Corbin, Mintz and Klink have traditionally favored donating money in some form or another to friends and their special projects. Council Members Harris and Heiser have been more responsible with taxpayers’ business.
Tuesday, October 8, 2013 is the next council meeting where this important matter will be heard.
“Reserves” are for Reserves. They were never intended to be a give-away program to special people for elite non-profit organizations.
Using taxpayers’ Reserves to dole out money (donate) to a special, elite non-profit organizations is illogical and unethical.
You can bet RGS Matt McCleary has his brand on this one.
Reserves are for necessities and they are to be used for priority city issues. There is a disconnect here because Reserve funds were never intended to be used by the city council members to donate to friends for their special non-profit projects.
Monetary donations of taxpayers’ reserve funds to a local non-profit organization is outside the bounds of good ethics.
