Local School Board
Makes Bid for 42nd
PRESS RELEASE -Morongo Basin, - Lone woman and Democrat, Karalee Hargrove of Twentynine Palms, has officially declared her candidacy for California’s 42nd Assembly District. The announcement was made at a gathering of about a dozen friends and family.
Hargrove stands in stark contrast to the four Republican men who will appear on the ballot in June’s primary election. The top two vote getters in June will face off in the general election November 2014. Republican Brian Nestande of Palm Desert currently represents the 42nd Assembly District. Term limits prevent Nestande from running again.
The 42nd Assembly District includes parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties with the highest concentration of voters along the I-10 corridor from Coachella Valley in the east to Yucaipa and Hemet in the west.
“It’s not that I do not believe in many Republican positions,” said Hargrove, “it is just that the candidates who will be on the June ballot do not represent my concerns as a woman, a wife, who wants to see working wage earners be able to feed their families on earnings from a 40-hour work week.”
A mother of five children, Hargrove presently serves on the Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees. In connection with her experience serving the school district, Hargrove says it has taught her that the opportunity to make the greatest impact is at the beginning of the legislative process before mandates are handed down.
