On Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 4:19 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call of a possible stabbing that had just occurred at an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Hermosa in Yucca Valley. When deputies arrived at the location, they found 19 year old Nicholas Fuller in the residence and suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies called for medical assistance and attempted to resuscitate the victim. The victim was taken to High Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree and then transported by air to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Through an investigation, deputies identified 26 year old Christopher Castenada as a possible suspect. During an extensive check of the area, Castenada was located at Fortuna and Outer Highway 62 in Yucca Valley and was taken into custody without further incident. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Station jail where he is currently being held without bail for PC664/187.
On Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 6:51 a.m., Nicholas Fuller succumbed to his injuries and Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations, Homicide Detail has assumed the investigation. The charges will be upgraded to Murder and investigators ask that anyone with information regarding this homicide contact them at (909) 387-3589.
