Yucca Valley, Ca.- Reports of the Yucca Valley effort by Concerned Citizens made the evening news of KMIR Channel 6 in Palm Springs and another television station out of Indio during the Yucca Valley Town council meeting of April 30, 2013. Photographs of four council members, sans councilman Bob Leone, were flashed across television screens in Coachella Valley, Riverside County.
Sharon Gilbert, a reporter with the Examiner, attended the meeting and published her perspective on national news about the Huntington/Lombardo recall.
Gilbert writes: “Four of the five current council members have been under scrutiny over a variety of issues, including their support of a sales tax increase and support of city manager Mark Nuaimi. All five council members are Republicans, although it is a non-partisan office. Four of the five are considered “RINOS” due to many of their actions. The term “RINO” refers to Republicans who vote like Democrats.
Nuaimi, whose temper tantrums have made him a polarizing figure in the town, receives over $300,000 in salary and benefits. The medium household income is $30,420 according to the last census. Some town residents consider Nuaimi’s salary to be over the top, especially since he lives 76 miles away in Fontana and is not one of their own.”
