One from Riverside just to stupid not to report…..

Dumb-Criminals-1On March 11th, 2013, deputies from the Southwest Patrol Station responded to the Pechanga Resort and Casino regarding a reported theft of personal property and a vehicle theft. The investigation revealed that a purse belonging to an employee of the Resort and Casino was stolen from a housekeeping cart while the employee was at work. Inside of the purse were the employee’s wallet and keys to the employee’s 2010 Honda Accord.

During the investigation, the victim discovered that after the theft of the purse, the suspect(s) located and stole her vehicle. As the victim was cancelling her credit cards, she discovered the suspect(s) had also used the cards at department stores within Riverside County.

On March 12th, 2013, an officer from the Temecula Police Department was flagged down by a citizen within the 32100 block of Temecula Parkway (Wal-Mart parking lot). The citizen reported that a male and female had observed the police car enter the parking lot and began running and hiding from the officer. A description was given to the officer and the subjects were located. The officer contacted the subjects as they attempted to hide near the front of a department store. As the officer approached the subjects, the male dropped an item on the ground and began to walk away. The item was later inspected and discovered to be illegal drugs.

The male and female were both arrested for being under the influence of an illegal drug and possession of an illegal drug. The suspects were identified as:

  • Chad Depasquale - 28 years of Menifee
  • Darcie Freeman - 25 years of Temecula

During a search of Depasquale, the officer located the keys to the the Pechanga Resort and Casino victim’s stolen vehicle along with credit cards belonging to the victim. An additional officer responded to the location with a police unit equipped with an “Automatic License Plate Reader”. Within a few minutes, the victim’s stolen vehicle was located in the parking lot a short distance from where the suspects were contacted. Further investigation determined Depasquale and Freeman arrived in the stolen vehicle.

A routine records check revealed that Depasquale was on probation, both in Orange County and Riverside County, and was currently out of custody on bail from an unrelated case. Both Depasquale and Freeman were arrested and transported to the Southwest Detention Center.

While being booked into the Southwest Detention Center, Freeman attempted to smuggle illegal narcotics into the jail facility. Freeman repeatedly denied having any illegal contraband on her person before entering the jail. While being booked into the jail, personnel from the Southwest Detention Center located illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia concealed on Freeman’s person.

Depasquale was booked on the following charges; grand theft auto, possession of stolen property, violation of probation, committing a crime while on bail, possession of methamphetamine and being under the influence of an illegal drug.

Freeman was booked on the following charges; being under the influence of an illegal drug, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bringing an illegal controlled substance into a jail facility.
