Leone thanks the voters
Yucca Valley, Ca,- At a gathering of friends, family, neighbors and supporters at an old fashion potluck BBQ, newly elected Councilman Bob Leone thanked everyone for their support. The first thing he wanted to clarify was his interview with the Hi-Desert Star that took place on Wednesday at 10:00 am. link
At the time of his interview with Courtney Vaughn, Leone stated he had not been contacted by the other council members. He was certain to let everyone know that Council member Dawn Rowe sent him an email at 4pm that day and Mayor Merl Abel left a phone message in the evening both expressing congratulations and looking forward to working together. Leone said he received a message from Candidate Michael Hildebrand extending best wishes and congratulations early Wednesday morning.
A surprise announcement by Bob Leone was to announce his nominees for the Yucca Valley Planning Commission; Dr. Curt Duffy, and his nominee for Parks and Recreation; Lori Herbel.
A change by the Yucca Valley Town Council on March 1, 2011, allows a Yucca Valley Town Council member to nominate his or her appointment to these commissions. link
It is anticipated Bob Leone will be sworn in at the next Town Council meeting and more information will be provided at the next update.
