A 22-year-old Virginia man has been charged with firing a shotgun through the door of his house on the same day that Vice President Joe Biden said that if “you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door.”
Biden made the comment on Monday to a reporter from Field & Stream magazine.
The man, who was not identified in a report by The Washington Times, was in the bedroom of his Virginia Beach home when two armed masked men leaned through the window and warned him to close the bedroom door.
The 22-year-old did, but not before stepping into the hallway, The Times reports. He then grabbed his shotgun and fired several shots through his closed bedroom door, toward the window.
The man was arrested on charges of recklessly handling a firearm, The Times reports. The suspects have not been caught — and no injuries were reported.

Can someone tell me what the smoke coming out the side of the shotgun is from? A compensator on a shotgun?… that far back on the barrel? It has bothered me since I first saw it.

It is called a “ported barrel” designed specifically to reduce recoil. In fact most shooting competitions ban the use of ported barrels because they cause an unfair advantage to the shooter. Less recoil equals less fatigue over the course of the competition.
Dan, I think it has something to do with the smoke emitting from an area about 24 inches south south east of the shooter’s left ear.
problem with the ported barrel theory, is that the smoke is only coming out of one side, all the ported guns I have seen (guns are bad by the way) have equal ports on each side. A gun with ports only on one side would tend to push away from the port.
Just my opinion, I have been wrong once or twice.
Might be your opinion but there are many models of “ported barrels” with the port only on one side.

Seems like you found the web site that talks about “ported” shotguns. I was only trying to keep it simple by using a source that has pictures in it like a comic book.
