The Eyes Have It! Floaters, Flashers and Eye Exams….

eye-test-1This post is to urge all our readers to pay attention to your health and especially the windows to the world, your eyes.

Last month, I experienced  flashing lights in the left corner of my left eye which was annoying.  I used to experience migraine headaches and read that some sufferers experienced flashing in their eyes as a precursor of a migraine attack. Two days later, I did not suffer a migraine headache but still had the flashing lights in my eye.

I have lived with “floaters” in both of  my eyes which are considered  normal but still they are annoying.  I now have a large dark floater in my left eye that appeared at the same time as the flashing.  I Googled “Flashing in the Eye” and read all the horror stories of potential retina detachment and warnings not to drive under these conditions.

I called for an appointment and had to wait one week before there was an opening.  Now, enter the Twilight Zone….another Cactus Thorns Blogger was experiencing the same symptoms in the same site in the same eye around the same time in late January. Unbelievable!

Eye floaters

I was able to find an example of eye floaters and thought it would be of interest to you.

The good news is these eye floaters will one day clump together and the weight will make them sink to the bottom of the eye socket out of your sight of vision.

My eye examination indicated I have no Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration or tearing of the retina. I have better than 20/20 vision and he was okay that I use  99cent readers. It is all part of the aging process. Bette Davis said, “Growing old isn’t for sissies.”

Well, we’re back to blogging! My fellow blogger also received a clean bill of health for his eyes!

    I too have this problem.

The opthamologist two weeks ago told me the floaters — lets call ‘em floating lint, spider webs, or minute organism-like amoebas floating around in the eye — may go away, or more may suddenly appear.

Apparently, said he, they are proteins in the eye. He said they may appear if you sneeze or cough harshly. They need to be checked out by a opthamologist, not a optometrist, because it could evidence pressure in the eye or other complication.

They are common with the aging process. This summer I was driving on Hwy. 62 when suddenly one big mass of dark fluff appeared. I thought it hair or lint on my glasses.

They often will cause white flashes you see through the eye. Yeah, I have this too. About six weeks ago, I saw a flash in the corner of the eye and believed a care was driving up to my house. Fortunately, the flashes have nearly gone away.

I was told that floaters are caused by the pressure built up during masturbation….. I could be wrong about this though…

Don’t know nothin’ ’bout that. I’m going with the opthamologist diagnosis and prognoses.

Is more masturbation the cure?…’cause I need to buy me some batteries so I can see better.
