The-Dining-Room-EmailJOSHUA TREE, CA – The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is proud to announce that The Dining Room, a fantastic community theater production, has added a matinee performance on March 3rd and tickets are now on sale. Under the direction of popular local award-winning director Wendy Cohen, and featuring an exciting cast of characters, A. R. Gurney’s acclaimed “comedy of manners” is now playing at the Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater and will run two more weekends through March 3, 2013.With an almost fifty-year tradition of staging the Desert’s best in live theater  the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s production of The Dining Room will feature a large cast of theatrical talent including Susan Brundage, Scott Cutler, Marge Doyle, Brad Holt, Peggy Jo, Sadie Johannsson, Richard Martinez, Marty Neider, Stacy Owens, Dennis Priest, Becky Renish, Philip Spinelli, Richie Sande, Virginia Sulick, and Karl Weimer with stage management by Heather Anderson. The play is set in a single dining room where 18 scenes from different households overlap and intertwine—with each story focused on a different family during different time periods who have in their possession the same dining room furniture set. The action is a mosaic of interrelated scenes—some funny, some touching, and some rueful. Dovetailing swiftly and smoothly, the varied scenes mesh into a theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor, and abundant humanity.
