Yucca Valley, Ca.- The sample ballots will arrive with the Voter’s Guide in the mail boxes of over 9,800 registered voters to fill one vacant seat on the Yucca Valley Town Council. This is a Mail-In election and there will not be any neighborhood voting polls.
Residents of Yucca Valley know and respect Candidate Robert (Bob) Leone for his honesty, integrity and dedication to our community. In all the past elections when he ran on the ballot, Bob always received the highest number of votes that even veteran Councilman Chad Mayes said he could never come close. Let’s take a closer look at his background, values and resume…..
Willingness to Serve:
Unlike the other candidates, Bob Leon tossed his hat into the ring when there was a vacant seat to be appointed by the Yucca Valley Town Council. When he discovered there were no challengers in the last election, he gathered enough signatures to be officially designated as a write-in candidate making history as the first write-in candidate for Yucca Valley Town Council. He went on the campaign trail at a very important time when Measure U was being promoted at a joint cost of over $239,000.00 by the Town and a Political Action Committee which was defeated at the polls. Bob Leone was against Measure U because it was a General Fund tax that could not be earmarked for special projects. He will support a Citizen’s Initiative of 1/2% tax specifically to fund the sewer crisis.

Leone is the only Yucca Valley Councilman to have completed the League of Cities Leadership Academy and among the many awards received, he is very proud of Sheriff’s Penrod’s Proclamation. Link

Bob Leone’s Vision for Yucca Valley:
“I want to create an environment to facilitate local business since sales tax is an important revenue. It is important to work with our local Chamber of Commerce to promote Yucca Valley. Sewers along our local corridor is a must. A police substation in a prominent location. For instance-the old PFF building next to our Fire Dept. so our residents can make reports (police), etc. Make it a possible DMV facility too.”
Top Three Priorities:
”1. Sewer system, water issues and lack of future water supply for our Town’s needs.
2.Increased ability to care for our infrastructure, roads, traffic, etc.
3. Source of revenue to sustain a balanced budget and services to the residents of Yucca Valley.”
Addressing the Town’s Road Backlog:
“SANBAG is a venue for county government to assist in our need for road funding. The Twentynine Palms Marine Base utilizes Hwy 62 for troop movement. Federal funding is needed to improve this road. We need to investigate state funding through Cal-Trans, grants, etc. that may be available to tap into.”
Town of Yucca Valley General Plan:
“The General Plan should be updated to shape the changing needs of this community. It reflects the desire of its residents through study sessions open to the public. It is a plan for future growth and planning for housing, residential, roads, population densities, etc. It is a guide for Planners and Leaders. This is a “Blue Print” for Yucca Valley.”
Knowledge level/Expertise to help Council Discussion and Decisions:
“I have a good understanding of the Town’s budget and financial condition due to my personal involvement as a Council member and Mayor during my 12 years as an elected official.”
“I have a positive working skill with people, bringing to consensus, with problem solving abilities.”
“I can contribute to the Town Council my experience and ability to reason and common sense. I believe I have the people skills to gather consensus among my peers.” (Source: YVTC Agenda 05/10/2011 Link)
