Yucca Valley, Ca.- The Yucca Valley Town Council voted to unanimously approve a 3 year contract for Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi. Among an increase in the total package, the new contract provided for more PTO, Paid Time Off. I guess Nuaimi started reaping his new benefits by not showing up for this evening’s Town Council meeting.
The four council members continued their praise for this manager by giving Nuaimi credit for a Cal-Trans project as one of his accomplishments and that he is bringing in housing for 75 seniors with creative financing. Past Mayor/Council Candidate Bob Leone addressed the council offering his past experience with five Town managers. Several members of the public spoke against this contract citing their own managerial careers receiving a salary and not expecting to be compensated with any overtime. As usual, the comments from the public fell on deaf ears and it appeared their decision was made up before calling the meeting to order.
Did I mention the meeting ran just fine without Nuaimi in attendance? Deputy Town Manager, Shane Stueckle and Finance Director Curtis Yakimow were able to keep the show up & running, adding their expertise and comments to supplement the staff report.
Councilman Rowe selected her Planning Commissioner, Steve Whitten, as her political appointment and the following Commissioners were re-affirmed: Laurine Silver and Meredith Jones on the Parks and Recreation and Jeff Drozd as Planning Commissioner appointed by Councilman George Huntington. Congratulations to all the Commissioners.
At the end of the meeting, Whitten spent some up-close smoozing time with Candidate Jennifer Collins who was in attendance but did not speak on any agenda item, again.
That’s all folks.
