no-show-2-x-2-300x300Yucca Valley, Ca.- The Yucca Valley Town Council voted to unanimously approve a 3 year contract for Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi.  Among an increase in the total package, the new contract provided for more PTO, Paid Time Off.  I guess Nuaimi started reaping his new benefits by not showing up for this evening’s Town Council meeting.

The four council members continued their praise for this manager by giving Nuaimi credit for a Cal-Trans project as one of his accomplishments and that he is bringing in housing for 75 seniors with creative financing.  Past Mayor/Council Candidate Bob Leone addressed the council offering his past experience with five Town managers. Several members of the public spoke against this contract citing their own managerial careers receiving a salary and not expecting to be compensated with any overtime. As usual, the comments from the public fell on deaf ears and it appeared their decision was made up before calling the meeting to order.

Did I mention the meeting ran just fine without Nuaimi in attendance?  Deputy Town Manager, Shane Stueckle and Finance Director Curtis Yakimow were able to keep the show up & running, adding  their expertise and comments to supplement the staff report.

Councilman Rowe selected her Planning Commissioner, Steve Whitten, as her political appointment and the following Commissioners were re-affirmed: Laurine Silver and Meredith Jones on the Parks and Recreation and Jeff Drozd as Planning Commissioner appointed by Councilman George Huntington. Congratulations to all the Commissioners.

At the end of the meeting, Whitten spent some up-close smoozing time with Candidate Jennifer Collins who was in attendance but did not speak on any agenda item, again.

That’s all folks.

Steve Whitten should be a positive addition to the Yucca Valley Planning Commission. He was a fine member of our Planning Commission and will be a hard working and decent member of Yucca’s.

    Congratulations Steve.

  2. Ed Montgomery Ed Montgomery says:

Once again the town Council shows their true colors, they have no respect for this community whatsoever. This manager has to be the worst we have ever seen. To pay him that kind of money in a small community like this is ridiculous, plus giving him another three-year contract that’s ridiculous. Now his salary and his benefits are over $300,000 a year.

Once again it shows the town Council and the people that run this town are big spenders and can’t be trusted with the taxpayers money. They have been running amok with our money, know wonder why measure U did not pass. The town Council has no idea what they’re doing, they all have to go. They’re allowing the town manager to do whatever he wants to do. The town Council is destroy this beautiful town.

As far as we concerned everybody on the town Council should be recalled! That’s just not my opinion, that’s a lot of people’s opinion. The only thing the town Council represents is their own special interest groups (sky Harbor) , and could care less about the rest of Yucca Valley.

Ed, while you stand on the corner holding signs for the candidate that you support, have you ever looked at what he voted to pay the town managers he hired? when you post your opinion you should look back before you criticize, when, you don’t it might make you look like an ass

  3. RescueGuy RescueGuy says:

Good for Mark. He has worked hard for this and deserves it. All the haters are just jealous and Margo, well, she is Margo… whaddya going to do?

  4. Tim Humphreville Tim Humphreville says:

Margo says, Bob spoke,” offering his past experience, Well Margo, maybe you could show us his “past experience” by posting what he paid Andy Takida while he was the town manager? For those who don’t know he was paid MORE than Mark, Margo could you please post the Stories that you wrote, telling this community that Bob Leone was wasting the tax payer money. I believe that all town managers are paid to much, but we must compete with other communities, that is the way it is. Mark works his ass off for this community, I don’t always agree with him, but unlike many in the past, he is working hard for us.
