This was in Brazil but does 29 Palms  have a morgue in town to handle unspeakable numbers of fatalities? Twentynine Palms has three large hotels chains; Staters Brothers Shopping Center; a few strip mall with many businesses, an elementary school, middle school, and high school; on North Adobe Rd. a huge old two-story structure converted into a nightclub that Marines patronize — yet in four months the fire department will be eviscerate.

Under Murphy’s Law: “Everything that can happen does happen. Why would anyone want to book events in this town, or lodge in BEST WESTERN GARDENS HOTEL, MOTEL 6, COUNTRY INN, or the exclusive ROUGHLEY MANOR with a gutted fire department unable to cope with a two-alarm fire?

Should a two-alarm fire break like this the City could be accountable for gross negligence, however, our decisions-makers would be exempt from liability under California Law — but be sure, they would forever wear SCARLET LETTERS.

We know in four months the fire department will run out of funding.  Although the City has had a free ride for 25 years, it continues to refuses to commit to pay (or help pay) for fire services with $13,000,000,00. dollars in reserve. Some on the city council like Councilman Jay Corbin dwell in Lovecraft’s Dreamland city.

BRASILIA, Brazil — A fire swept through a crowded nightclub in southern Brazil early Sunday, killing at least 180 people and leaving at least 200 injured, police and firefighters said.

Sandro Meinerz, a spokesman for the police in the city of Santa Maria, told local media that the fire broke out at the Kiss club while a band was performing.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, officials said. The total number of victims is still unclear and there may be hundreds injured, Civil Police and regional government spokesman Marcelo Arigoni told Radio Gaucha.

Arigoni told the radio station a truck carrying 70 bodies had arrived at the Municipal Sports Center, which was being used as an improvised morgue.

  1. Now that the Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians is diffidently going to build a 30,000-square-foot casino on their tribal lands (feature story in the Trail), what about fire protection concerning a two-alarm fire? Add that to the mix of businesses at risk.

Branson, you are delusional with all this morgue talk. Trying to whip up support for your pet project with scare tactics is juvenile and lame.
