The long touted special meeting of the Twentynine Palms City Council on the fate of the 29 Palms Fire Department began with the most lopsided example of poor potty training by a city manager I have ever witnessed. Seriously folks the City Manager Robespierre is off his rails. He needs professional help. As does it appear others in his crew who have lost sight of why this city incorporated.
I was side tracked in my warning to the council of dis-incorporation in the wings as this comedy played out last night. I was tasked to make public the ethical and moral dilemma of Mr. Corbin and his spouse working for the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the very agency he is advocating that the 29 Palms Fire Department be pieced out to. I was assured that it was perfectly legal for him to deliberate the fate of the fire department by the City Attorney. Lawyers.
Its perfectly legal to cheat on your wife too, but it is a moral and ethical wrong that many find abhorrent. You are expected as a public servant to recuse yourself if there is the slightest appearance of a ethical problem. I don’t know but this is kind of a huge stone in the middle of the road is…. To big to go around or pave over.
After TPWD and the 29 Fire were sandbagged by the City manager, and County fire was less than forthcoming in its answers to the Council, no action was taken….
Next meeting will be in the Water Board’s corner.
