“Reasonable voices need to be heard?” not so says Richard Warne

Today has been an incredible day. But once the agenda and staff reports were posted at the city website for Monday’s special meeting of the city council to discuss our fire department’s future – the magnetic poles of the earth shifted.

My telephone has not stopped ringing for hours. People are at this time numb but that numbness will soon turn into complete and total anger for a man that some of us knew did not fit here in 29 Palms but now has shown that he does not fit by his own actions and words.

Mr. Warne has published today a staff report that maligns, belittles, and insults five other elected members of this community – our Water Board and trust you me they will be coming out within hours with a vengeance we in 29 Palms have never seen before. He also managed to insult every fire fighter we have.

But like a true narcissist he doubled down by publishing a 137 page power point presentation that he intends to present on Monday night that truly could spell his demise as the city manager. It is the most atrocious and unprofessional document that I have ever seen in my life. As with his budget it is a long winded attack piece that is poisonous and toxic. Should he present this piece of work on Monday evening it will be publicly booed and there will be outbursts from the audience due its sheer spiteful tone.

So Jay – I understand your call for “Reasonable voices…” How do you then explain what the city manager has done? Or is the tone of the following links to Mr. Warne’s writings what one would call -”Reasonable”?

Was this presentation approved by the City Council or is Warne acting on his own? If the former then it seems some more Council Members need to be voted out just like Cole was. If the latter, then it seems Warne has blatantly exceeded his authority and needs to be fired.

Hi Steve – I am certain that this is a man acting on his own or at least acting without the support of the full council.

Based upon what we know happened with Water Board director Chambers it was Warne and Corbin who made a “power point” presentation that nobody could get a copy of not even the other elected councilmembers.

We know that Cora knew nothing about this and I am certain that Harris, Klink, and Mintz did not know either. To be frank I am thinking Corbin may have been out of the loop on this current version that Warne has posted for the world to see.

I am with Chancey Chambers on this one. Our council needs to act immediately before this man divides our city like he did in the last city he was at.

He has a track record of doing stuff like this and that is why he “left” his last place of employ right after three new councilmembers were elected that ran on the platform to get rid of him.

He needs to go and the cost in dollars does not matter he does not fit in and never has.

Well if he did this without the explicit consent of at least three Council Members then he should be fired. If the Council did vote to treat the Fire Dept issue in this way, then where is the record of such a decision?

As the City Manager Richard Warne follows the Council’s orders and not the other way around. Strangely enough, it seems Cora is the only Council Member with enough “balls” to publicly stand up to Warne.

Well, Jim Harris also publicly will disagree with Richard Warne the city manager.

I have also seen Jay Corbin do the same.

What Richard Warne has done is to take a discussion of possible actions for the good of our city and turned it into a we, the city, versus them, the Water District and the Fire Department.

I have to go to work but on my home I am going to buy some popcorn and soda so I can watch what unfolds as today unfolds.

Using Richard Warne’s full name in these discussions will help ensure they come up anytime someone (like a future employer) Googles his name.

I am very disturbed by the City Manager’s power point. I have fought against this since November 11 with very little success. This power point is not similar to the one I was shown, it is much worse. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I am not happy with Mr. Warne’s power point at all. Neither am I happy that the meeting was not set up with equal access and time for all parties involved. I have been promoting leadership that unifies the community, not divides it.

    I guess I’m out-of-step here:

City Council is responsible for the issues presented by the city manager and his work product. They are responsible for his acts and his failure to act and his omissions to act. The city council is responsible for Warne; they have enable him from the get-go. He’s a race horse without a rider, and five men on the CC are his owner. They keep him in the race. Get pissed at five men on the CC for continuing to give him runaway control over the city absent oversights from the CC.

My apology to Councilwoman Cora Heiser. The five men on the CC I spoke of in the last comment were the five prior to Cora being elected. Thank to the voters of 29 for their wise decision to elect an advocate who will represent everyone and who ran on a platform of TRANSPARENCY.
