Alesia Ellis shows up to the City Council saying that she owns a non-profit organization called “Training with Pay” (http://www.trainingwithpayonline.org/) and that she wants to expand into Twentynine Palms from Yucca Valley. She wants to include in janitorial business and a Sears along with that in the old Rite-Aid site next to Stater’s.
The letter to the city is poorly written, the website as many 404 errors.
The “Training with Pay” is listed as an eligible non-profit by the IRS. EIN 87-0746427 when investigated shows 2 filings with the IRS (1) 2007, (2) 2009. There own website last update shows only a flyer for a golf tournament in 2010.
The developer is asking for $500,000.00 from the City in order to fill a “pro froma” gap.
Sears own website (http://www.ownasearsstore.com) that speaks of opening a Sears franchise store says;
“There is not an initial licensing fee to become a Sears Hometown Store Authorized Owner. Prospective owners who wish to open a new store must have $25,000 cash available and the ability to borrow $100,000 in capital.”
