Yucca Valley, CA – On Christmas day the TLC (Tender Loving Care) people once again pulled it off. It was one of the greatest gift of the year for the Morongo Basin.
Local resident and founder of “TLC”, Mara Cantelo, started her community-wide Christmas dinner celebration and toys for all children nearly three decades ago. This year there were reportedly over 300 volunteers in total that help TLC to help feed hundreds of people (if not a few thousand) for an all-you-can-eat Christmas feast.
It should be noted that about a year ago and a half ago Mara Cantelo traveled to Washington DC to receive the prestigious and coveted Jefferson Award for her humanitarian efforts in the Morongo Basin.
TLC gave away thousands of gifts to children at their Santa Clause Toy Shop, and a thousand more pieces of free clothing. The Christmas buffet feast was headed-up by Mara Cantelo and a professional Chef.
This is no soup line folks: It was a Christmas dinner fit for a king — enjoyed by families, workers, the homeless, seniors, people out of work, regular residents, visitors from other Hi-Desert Communities, travelers and everyone else that showed up for one of the most wonderful Christmas feed in America.
There were unlimited and overflowing serving trays of tender sliced roasted ham, juicy and tender slices of white and dark roasted turkey, salads galore and all the trimmings including pies and deserts . A feast fit for the Queen Mother and her royal flock.
Entertainment was also provided.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” when people come together in the Morongo Basin for an unbelievable day of Tender Loving Care.
Thanks so much to all the volunteers, the many local organizations and individuals that helped fund this event. And bless Mara Cantelo and the Chef who brought it all together.
