Joseph Sumlin, 34, Landers

amboyJoseph Sumlin, a 34 year old resident of Landers, was driving his 1993 Nissan pickup northbound on Amboy Road 17 miles south of US 66, in rural Amboy when for reasons unknown, his vehicle left the roadway to the east, came back across both traffic lanes, struck the 4′ high dirt berm on the west side of the roadway which caused the vehicle to roll over coming to rest on its roof.

The California Highway Patrol received a wireless 911 call at 8:08 PM on 12/23/2012, reporting the overturned vehicle.

Sumlin’s body was ejected and located a short time later approximately 150′ north of the vehicle.

Paramedics from Morongo Basin Ambulance responded and pronounced Sumlin dead at 8:43 PM.

The California Highway Patrol is investigation the incident. [
