Yucca Valley, Ca.,- Four candidates have filed their papers to run for the two-year term for Yucca Valley Town Council. This seat was vacated by the resignation of Isaac Hagerman.
The official candidates are Robert “Bob” Leone, Claude Short, Jennifer Collins and Michael Hildebrand.
The Yucca Valley Town Council called for a Special Election for March 5, 2013, due to Hagerman resignation and timing did not allow for the seat to be filled at the November 5, 2012, election.
In order to save money for this Special Election, the Town Council will discuss amending their previous Resolution to allow for an All Mail Ballot instead of a Polling Ballot to fill this seat. It is Agenda item #14 at their meeting this Tuesday, December 18, 2012. A Polling Place Ballot would cost $60,000-$65,000 as per the estimates of the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters as opposed to $30,000-$37,000 for an All Mail-in Ballot.

As a personal note to this post, I was encouraged to run for this Town Council seat but I truly believe our citizens need diversity and experience at this critical junction for Yucca Valley.
It is my opinion we certainly do not need to seat (appointed or elected) another inexperienced councilman that lives in Sky Harbor and worships at the same church, as do our current town council members.
