The citizens of Yucca Valley have been exercising their rights to assemble and to speak at public comments at Town Hall meetings. Most of this recent activity is due to the controversial Measure U, a 30 year 1% General Fund tax placed on the November ballot by the Yucca Valley Town Council by the direction of Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi.
A story of false assumptions was recently posted by our local yokel- “The Nut Job Possee” ( link ) and comments were made by the local radio station appearing to chastise citizens in a condescending manner for simply exercising their rights to speak at public meetings.(link)
There have been many “teach-in” rallies these past months by the Citizens against Measure U. Maverick Ed Montgomery has manned the corner of Hwy 62 and 247 every Saturday passing out flyers and lawn signs: Vote No Measure U. Just for fun, we named it Montgomery Corner in his honor. What we may lack in money, we have been blessed with passion and spirit! Vote No Measure U!
The Pro Measure U Citizen Committee held a rally a couple of weeks ago. I was told Tim Humphreville was dressed up “my style” trying to deceive passing vehicles I was in attendance at the Pro rally. Keeping his back turned to oncoming vehicles, his sassy hips and big hairy arms gave him away. Was this Tim’s Halloween costume? Tim must have been the “Belle of the Ball.”
