Yucca Valley, Ca.- Thinking about running for office?  You’d better ask Santa for a pair of running shoes but before you do, be sure to pull your papers beginning November 12, 2012.

Papers must be filed by 5:00p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2012.  For good measure, file your papers with the Yucca Valley Town clerk on Thursday before the deadline since Town Hall is closed on Fridays.

A Special Municipal Election has been called to fill one seat on the Yucca Valley Town Council for a short-term to end December 2014.  This seat was abruptly vacated by ex-Councilman Isaac Hagerman citing family concerns after 1 year 6 months into his term of office.

The official Town notice states: “If no one or only one person is nominated for an elective office, appointment to the elective office may be as prescribed in Section 10229, elections code of the State of California.”  California Code 10229>>> LINK

  1. Given all the well-placed criticism of the Yucca Valley Town Council from active and informed town folks, and the unjustified and seemingly unstoppable spending spree the town manager is addicted to (resume enhancement), there was no one on the November ballot but an incumbent. I think this is called dramatic irony.

Didn't the incumbents at both the water board and the town council get relected? What does that say about the citizens of YV?

Hey Whitten, You can have my vote if you will create an off-road park on section 11. It is owned by the Town of Yucca and located up north of Brust Auto Wrecking.

I'm serious! When we incorporated they made it illegal for kids to ride anywhere within the Town limits and that just ain't right.

Not only is it not right, it's stupid. Limitations on youth recreational opportunities is counterproductive. Riding off road as a kid was one of the few things that I could relate to that kept me out of trouble.

  6. Right Mike. Especially considering that Cactus Thorns bloggers researched his past and put all his laundry up in many blogs stories. Let this be a lesson... when you hire a manager, at least do your frigging homework -- that much is owed to the people the council represents. It was the blind was following the blind on the council.
