Gregg Imus vs Paul Cook: Why I vote for Gregg Imus

As most of Barstow knows, Jerry “Brett” Fortenberry was taken from us in a horrendous head-on hit and run collision at Ramirez Road and Hwy 58 on September 15th of this year. What many don’t know is that it was an illegal alien who ran home and whose family members here immediately whisked him away to hide in Mexico after leaving Brett for dead. There are many horrible details to this but I will not write about the gore, I am writing about a very disturbing trend that is happening in California and the country.

Fortunately, Mr. Abe Fortenberry – Brett’s father – had the courage to come forward and be heard and ask me to go forward with this fight.

That trend is about concealing from the public the identities of the illegal aliens and the facts surrounding the crime(s). The CHP who should have had a report out within 10 – 30 days now tells the family that it will be after the elections and that the family needs to keep it quiet that it was an illegal alien that caused the accident. On August 13th of this year, Denise Battey of Norwalk was outside watering her garden after a back surgery. Her neighbor – an illegal alien – saw her on that morning and stabbed her to death and then raped her and then fled to Mexico! The local authorities as of this Thursday night were telling her twin sister Anise Battey to be quiet and not tell anyone that it was an illegal alien that murdered then raped her.

On March 1, 2008 Jose Espinoza was released from police custody in Los Angeles after being held as a known gang member and in possession of a firearm and other charges. On March 2, 2008 – less than 24 hours later – he gunned down star football player Jamiel Shaw in front of Jamiel’s house because Jamiel was black. On March 3, 2008, Espinosa reported to his probation officer as though nothing had happened! Since being arrested, Jose Espinosa has picked up five more felonies in jail! After finding out that Jamiel was not a gang member, many hearts went out to the Shaw family as Jamiel’s mother – Sgt Anita Shaw – was serving her 2nd tour of duty in Iraq when she got the news of her first born son being murdered.

Mayor Antonio Villargosa, police chief Bernard Parks, city council president Herb Wesson, and many other council members visited the Shaw family. However, when they found out that Jose Espinosa was an illegal alien and that Sgt Anita Shaw was starting a group “Jamiel’s Law” to deport known gang members that were here illegally, they all turned their backs on her and are now trying to stop her efforts!

When Gregg Imus and Tim Donnelly flew the Shaw family to Sacramento for hearings, the Democrats at first were receptive until they found out that Sgt Anita Shaw was starting Jamiel’s Law and that she would not “stay quiet” about it. Then they turned their backs on her.

Many politicians such as Paul Cook do not want to “rock the boat” with illegal aliens. Perhaps if Assemblyman Paul Cook – now running for Congress – had not voted for AB353 which bans law enforcement from impounding the cars of illegal aliens caught driving illegally, unlicensed, and uninsured, Brett may still be with us.

Most importantly, we the people need to stand up and be heard and let our officials know that we will no longer tolerate anonymity to murderers simply because they are illegal aliens. If you or I committed one of these horrendous crimes, our names and pictures would be in every newspaper and wanted posted in the country. This needs to hold true for illegal aliens as well. Sacramento and Washington need to stop hiding these crimes that are affecting hundreds or thousands of people in this country. Many of these murderers are walking the streets in America right now and we have a right to know who they are!

  1. Paparrazi Paparrazi says:

Nick, this has been going on far to long. I was a passenger in a head on with some drunk illegals driving someone else's car back in the early 80s. With the medical bills out of reach, I sued the driver of the car I was in to pay the bills. I still suffer from back and head aches to this day. The police showed no intent on even trying to catch the drunk driver and the owner of the car said that he did not authorize them to drive his car. The cops and I new it was bull but what are you going to do? That was in the period of Reagan amnesty. What sucks more? The pain of those that suffer at the hands of illegals, or knowing that some politicians sold me out for the sake of political expediency? I'm not sure but I am sure of one thing. I'm in favor of legal immigration and opposed to the lack of enforcement of laws that are already on the books. We should hold these illegals to same penalties as their homeland holds for those that enter their native countries illegally.
