Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Phillip J Martin, 60, of Golden Valley, early Thursday (10/18) evening for first degree murder.

At about 5:00 p.m., deputies and detectives responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Elgin Road. The reporting party said that he believed the neighbor shot his friend. The reporting party further said that he heard one gun shot.

Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim, later identified as Steven Jeffery Schwartz, 55, of Golden Valley, lying on his side in the driveway. Schwartz communicated that Phil, his neighbor shot him.

River Medical Ambulance responded and transported Schwartz to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Deputies contacted Martin at the scene and detained him. A shotgun was confiscated which was used in the incident. Martin was transported and booked into the Mohave County Jail. This case remains under investigation.
