29 Palms-Yucca Valley Community Clean-up days meets its demise!

The county-sponsored annual Community Clean-up days in Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley have been cancelled since the county has discontinued the free dumping programs for both communities (and beyond), local broadcast news reported today.

It’ complicated, but apparently county lawyers believe Prop. 26 prevent the waiver of fees once a year by estoppel because dump operation fees may not be redirected to benefit people who didn’t pay that fee.

But wait, if 29’s city hall can briefly disconnect from their sinister mano a mano obsession over the defunct Project Phoenix bond lawsuit —  they have the power to fix the problem by absorbing the cost. This is a good thing for our small remote desert community.

Council guys — Jim, Danny, John, Joel and John — can you help the community of 29? Here is your chance to have something put on the agenda, rather than cancel city council meetings. We don’t want a trashy town, do we? We are not like Yucca Valley.

Is the Yucca Valley town council interested? Given the looks of that town with trash strewn all over the place it’s a toss up for that group of appointed and elected body. Anyone taken a look at the area surrounding the Walmart shopping center? The town is beginning to look like like a third-world Somalia.

Off-Topic: Friendly about the blood drive tomorrow at Little Church of the Desert, from 2 to 6 p.m.
