Yucca Valley, Ca.- After being on the Hi-Desert District Water Board for 13 years and fined by the FPPC, Fair Political Practices Commission, Bob Stadum’s reign could be over.
Stadum’s confidence of automatically being re-elected as the status quo was reflected by his glib and arrogant answers during the recent candidate forums.
His recent disdain for following the letter of the law was recently expressed while seated on the dais complaining he had to recuse himself from voting on several matters which also required him to leave the room.
The Hi-Desert Star endorsed Bob Stadum stating: “…Although he has to recuse himself on sewer issues, he will be able to vote on this important topic within a year.”
In anticipation of running for office, Stadum jettisoned off his properties declaring he sold or transferred his holdings so that this would not be an issue. Stadum complained that he did all that work but was advised by the HDWD attorney, Best, Best & Krieger, he still could NOT vote on any wastewater matters for an additional year.

Stadum has received warning letters from the FPPC as far back to March of 2007 and an opinion letter from BBK, Best, Best & Kreiger dating back to Nov.29, 2006 regarding his Conflict of Interest due to his owning several properties as a builder/developer. Knowing he had these conflicts of interest did not stop him from crossing the line in defiance continuing to stay on the dais and voting on District business. For the past three years, HDWD Director has not been able to vote on the most important issue of the sewer project.
Stadum collected $1,400.00 per month for medical/dental and vision benefits for the past 13 years.
Stadum is paid a stipend of $125.00 per meeting and has collected up to $1,250.00 for attending ten meetings per month.
This was sent to me by a faithful reader of Cactus Thorns quoting fellow HDWD Director Sheldon Hough:
“Bob and Stanley governed our community with a combined total of 28 years…perhaps someone will ask them…why wasn’t the WasteWater project completed years ago? “
After sitting on the HDWD Board of Directors for 13 years, it is time to send Bob Stadum home to enjoy his retirement.

Updated October 20, 2012-The Hi-Desert Star has added Bob Stadum’s name to their endorsements on their website and also in today’s printed newspaper. The newspaper also mentions Stadum will not be able to vote on Wastewater issues for one more year.

Conflicted Bob Stadum seeks 4th Term on HDWD Board of Directors,
The Saturday (10/20/12) issue of the Star says on page A7 that the Hi Desert Publishing Co. endorses Graham and Stadum. What gives?
Hi Larry, This story was written based on the 10:58 pm Friday posting on the Hi-Desert Star website. The website only listed Graham as their endorsement at that time.
When I read the printed version of the newspaper (Saturday 10/20/12),I immediately updated this story to reflect their endorsement of Bob Stadum.
