On Oct 13, 2012, at approximately 0543 hours, deputies from the Trona Sheriff’s Station responded to 13400 block of Aster Street in Trona for an assault with a weapon call. The deputies arrived and found the victim had suffered a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries and later died of those wounds.
The Victim 31 year old Aaron Whitbey, of Trona, was shot at his residence and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster. He died from his wounds at the hospital on 10/14/2012, at 11:40 AM.
The suspect was identified as Jesus Anthony Evans. The suspect fled, to an unknown destination, in a black older model pickup truck.
UPDATE: On Saturday, October 13, 2012, at approximately 5:43 a.m. Trona deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 13000 block of Aster Street. Deputies arrived and found the victim unresponsive in the residence. He was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster and died from his injuries on Sunday October 14, 2012.
The Homicide Detail and Trona Station Detectives used information obtained during the investigation to identify the suspect’s. Both suspects were located Tuesday, October 16, 2012, in the Inyokern area and were taken into custody.
Jesus Anthony Evans and Jana Irene Jaime, 36 both of Ridgecrest were transported and booked into the Central Detention Center for PC187, Murder.
