20 busted farming Pot in Newberry Springs

Newberry Springs, Ca– The Sheriff’s Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) received information from Barstow Station patrol personnel about a possible marijuana cultivation on 31768 Fort Cady Road. An investigation was conducted and a search warrant was secured for the location.

On Monday, October 9, 2012 at 9:00 a.m., a search warrant was served by narcotics detectives. A large marijuana cultivation, enclosed by chain link and landscaping mesh, was located on the property. During the service of the warrant, eight suspects fled the property on foot into the desert. Narcotics investigators and Barstow Station patrol personnel located and apprehended all eight suspects with the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation. Four additional suspects were located inside a residence on the property. The ranch style property consisted of several dwellings where all of the suspects were living.

The cultivation encompassed an area of approximately 1/2 acre. Over 800 marijuana plants, approximately 15 pounds of processed marijuana and 2 rifles were seized. All of the plants were mature.

 Grow Two

The Sheriff’s Marijuana Team (MET) received information fro the Barstow Station patrol deputies regarding a large marijuana grow. MET conducted an investigation and secured a search warrant for the Palo Verde Lane property.

On Monday, October 8, 2012 at 9:00 a.m., Sheriff’s Narcotics/MET Detectives served the warrant. A large marijuana “plywood grow” cultivation was located on the property. The ranch style property consisted of a three bedroom residence where the eight identified suspects were living. Horse stables and corrals were utilized for the cultivation, which encompassed an area of approximately 1.2 acres. A total of 726 marijuana plants, and approximately 150 pounds of processed marijuana, were seized. The cultivation consisted of mature and immature plants.
