On Tuesday, October 2, 2012, Sheriff’s Specialized Investigators were assigned to conduct an investigation at the West Valley Detention Center.
Recently, jail staff became concerned about frequent interaction between a female deputy and a 19 years old male inmate. Investigators received information that solidified the concern and served a search warrant at Deputy Katina Carter’s residence. At the conclusion of the search warrant, Carter was taken into custody and booked for PC289.6(a)(2) – An employee or officer of a public entity detention facility, or an employee…who engages in sexual activity with a consenting adult who is confined in a detention facility.
Katina Carter, 38 was released from custody on a bail bond on Friday, October 5, 2012. She is currently on paid administrative leave.
