Canadian killed while recreational shooting in Barstow.

On Saturday, September 29, 2012, at 4:00 PM, San Bernardino County Sheriff personnel were called to a location in the desert west of the Interstate 15 Freeway and north of Hodge Rd., in the Barstow area.

At the location they found that a 23 year old Canadian citizen, who had been visiting friends in Phelan, that had been fatally injured during a recreational shooting event.

The name of the decedent is withheld pending notification to the family.

Examinations are underway to determine the cause and manner of the death. The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff Department.
