Yucca Valley, CA– Funny how the reality of intolerance can be found in the oddest of places.
We have our own brand of Taliban out here in the desert. Yucca Valley awoke to what amounts to a full blown attack on the First Amendment.
8th Congressional District Candidate Gregg Imus’ signs through out the Yucca Valley Area were vandalized last night, with what can only be considered odd religious ramblings.
The sign at La Contenta and the Highway was spray painted with the Question “Ask Yourself, Who would Jesus Shoot?”
Well my question is “Who’s goose is Cooked?”
The destruction of Campaign signs is an attempt at quelling free speech. The exact reason that the 1st Amendment to the Constitution was Added . What are the Cook followers going to do next? Actually take pot shots at the candidate? DO we have to fear a terrorist attack in the middle of the night?
We are going to demand that Paul Cook come out of hiding and MAN UP to take control of his campaign workers. Obviously being way behind in the polls, Cook is now desperate and has sent forth his hateful campaign workers to destroy.
This kind of small ball does not show that Mr. Cook is anywhere near ready or able to serve the 8th Congressional District.
We do not need an American Taliban. We do not need political shenanigans like this. We need not fear the expression of free speech. We need not fear the wanton destruction of private property.
We Really do we need a guy like Gregg Imus at the helm.
Gregg Imus vs Paul Cook: Congressional Campaign Gets Nasty,

Very well put Dan, my hats off to you. respectfully, DamnDawgers.
If I were to answer the question? Low level marxist/communist scum, statist, collectivists, anti-American power hungry usurpers, cowards, small-minded authoritarians, dictators, tyrants, treasonists…..and these are just the ones inside the beltway.
I forgot looters, moochers and TAGGERS.
Show Your Support Tonight at Las Palmas.
Paparrazi says, a picture is worth a thousand words. Great framing. This photo really tells a story without even adding a word. The obvious is that the Cook sign is unscathed. Most likely had nothing to do with Paul Cook but with a religious bigot since Mr Cook is not anti gun as far as I know.
Mr or Ms vandal, no American likes to see anti competitive and unlawful acts of this sort. I’m confident that even my detractors on this site will agree that the white and red paint stains on your hands are not becoming of anyone that seeks freedom. If anyone does retaliate on a Cook sign they have sunk to the level of the barbaric nature of those that we see in violent acts across the middle east. You can wash your hands eventually of the paint but you can’t escape from the shame you should feel.
Jesus has been busy shooting lots of innocence… Thats why we need secure borders.

Blaming Cook supporters is totally out of line, but why stop you now?
Obviously it was someone objecting to the minuteman sign practicing their own free speech without the need to sell their soul for donations. A little uncouth though not the great assault you claim it to be. Get over it, nobody’s taking your rights.
Taliban?
- “Obviously it was someone objecting to the minuteman sign…” –
Obviously not since it is only in Terry’s mind that it is a “minuteman sign”!
Hey… maybe it was Terry! In which case it would be a Cook supporter… wouldn’t it?
…or perhaps an Imus supporter playing the victim card. Again.
Yeah Terry… people like destroying their own signs at $150 a pop…. I will bet it is one of the new Left wing Talaban of “No Show” Cook.
Terry I have to agree anyone who would go play on the boarder to gain the nutty support of the right wing haters would stoop to play the poor me victim card. Can’t help that my gut feeling is this guy is a sham, and that is coming from a non-cook supporter. How did we get to a point that we have a ballet with two undesirables for congress, at least we have a third choice on all fifty of the state ballets for prez.
You should be ashamed of your unpatriotic attitude about Border security.
Libertairans folks do not believe in Borders…. They by definition believe in a One World Government without borders.
tear down this wall! go ahead and have it both ways,
OK Mark….. follow the pen…… Tear down this wall was about the Wall that Seperated East and West Germany….. This is about two Soveriegn Nations THe US of A and the US of M ….. One 1776 the other 1820…. One an English Speaking Nation, the other a Spanish SPeaking Nation.
But you point is well taken.
press one for English, lol
you might get a little insight to our boarders by looking at some historical maps
Actually Dan, I object to you questioning Mark’s loyalty. Mark is not the problem. Congress is the great enabler and they are the problem.
The place to protest is NOT at the border. Congress has done little over the decades to speed-up legal immigration, while they sit on their hands and actually encouraged illegal immigration.
We — all of us — are the problem. We haven’t made it clear to our lawmakers to do something about this problem.
Actually Branson I could give a rats ass what you think about Mark and I’s back and forths…. this is between Mark and I… Mark and I are able to discuss this between ourselves with out your kibitzing. At the end of the day Mark and I remain loyal and solid friends that do not back stab one another… So thank you but no thanks.
And yes the border is the perfect place to protest problems at the border…. If you want to Occupy Wall Street you don’t go protest in Des Moines. You go to where the problem is.
No need to be a vulgarian, Dan.
It’s wrong to question someone’s loyalty because he doesn’t agree with a candidates platform. It’s also dirty politics to question Cook’s military record.
Lets keep the campaigning clean.
I’m thinking it was a typical Humanist that wrote the disparaging remarks on the signs…. I mean, I can show several times where you the agnostic, have asked desertrider or me or someone else… What would Jesus do? SO was it you little gang of limp dicks that got the artistic inspiration?
You Mark have got to be the biggest turd that posts on the Cactus Thorns. I have sat here watching you input comments that have no relation to the subject, say crap that is completely untrue, then get pissy when you get called out.
Others have even told you to shut the hell up. You have made remarks where even the softest of people want to kick your ass. Remember the Nazi comments you made?
So please do us all a favor, grow a brain, find some common sense, think before you speak. Or just shut the hell up!
Snivel, snivel
As compared to all show.
Is blaming Godless, marxist, vandalls, who have no respect for personal property OK? Could they possibly be Ramos supporters? Which makes them proxy Cook supporters? Enquiring minds want to know.
“practicing their own free speech without the need to sell their soul for donations” FYI, It’s not “free” speech when you destroy private property, but if you’re a marxist there is no private property, right? and if you’re a marxist you don’t have to worry about the condition of your soul, since you don’t have one, but the marxists I’ve met will accept donations, in fact, they demand them, through oppressive taxation.
Yes, it was the maexists supporting Ramos. How did you know?
It was some radical kid with a spraycan of paint. Get over it. Other than vandalism. there is no issue. There are no victims. It’s just another campaign sign littering the basin.
You obviously don’t understand the proper use of punctuation. When a sentence is followed by a question mark, it is a question, not an accusatory statement. Ending a sentence with a period or exclamation point IS making a statement, please try to remember that proper grammer, punctuation and spelling are all signs of education and intelligence. This site seems to promote the free exchange of intelligent ideas, please do not self exclude yourself from the conversation.
When in Rome…Reverberated propaganda should not be confused with actual intelligence. Apparently you’ve lost your legs and have nothing else to stand on. The phrase ” Live free or die” has been reduced to a campaign slogan used by English critics. Quite disrespectful to those vandals that tossed the tea.
Grammar taskmaster person (Live Free or die), this isn’t CT Grammar 101. The sentence is in its correct form: It asks “How do you know?”
At issue, was the defiling of the signs of the two candidates graffiti or political sabotage? I’m thinking it was teens, what sort of low-life would do this? Teen pranksters I can understand but not political sabotage by adults.
Have you something of value to add?
@Dan. When I proffer positive constructive criticism, you go off-topic to invent misinformation about my spiritual beliefs? I suggest you cannot take constructive criticism.
If you desire to keep private your comments to Mark, don’t post them on the internet. Simple.
I believe I take critcism as well as anyone here… Its that you that seems to be able to dish it out but is never quite able to take it…
Your spiritual beliefs are well know here… you shove them down our throats on a regular basis… we know… Oh how we all know….
The clown’s laughing.
@ Hi Terry,
Regarding your observation of the vandalized signs-You wrote “It was some radical kid with a spraycan of paint. Get over it. Other than vandalism. there is no issue. There are no victims. It’s just another campaign sign littering the basin.”
A detective explained to me it was a very organized hit and well planned. The two colors used on all the signs in the same manner are not the acts of a random kid with a can of spray paint. Or in this case two cans, two colors per sign…..all eight signs in Yucca Valley. Would you like an email all the photos to confirm this?
Also, in each case the lettering was precise and the same message regardless of horizontal or vertical position of the sign. Would you like an email of all the photos taken to confirm this too?
While I was careful not disturb the area, there were the same patterned shoe prints at most of the locations. The hard surface at the Hilton/Hwy62 site did not leave any shoe prints nor was I able to scale the hill at the La Contenta/Hwy 62 location. Would you like a photo of the shoe impression too?
Yes, there are victims. Law abiding citizens are disgusted about these acts by those that have no respect for personal property. Each sign is very expensive especially when you factor in installation costs/hardware/labor on top of the sign costs.
Will our Sheriff’s department follow up on this? Will our local newspaper report on this? I sent an email to the editor and there was no coverage in the paper. What about Desert Red’s damaged with a red substance tossed on her expensive signs? Yep. That will probably make the newspaper-Maybe even front page….
All that tea they dumped wasn’t cheap either…
I have little doubt at least one sign was vandalized. If you say there was more, I have no reason to doubt your word. What I doubt is if it was Cook supporters. That was the ruse of the story.
Were there different footprints or the same sets over and over? Let’s just put the story in the right perspective and not try to blow it out of proportion. Put the blame where it actually belongs and not make up stuff.
“I have little doubt at least one sign was vandalized”
Uh… there are two pictured above, eh?
More than anger over the defacing of private property, I find their sacrilegious message offensive and the reference to violence frightening.
I guess I made their day.
