Yucca V
alley, Ca., – Several members of the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce have contacted me to express their displeasure in this organization becoming involved in local politics or taking a position on a tax measure. Others told me they did not vote to endorse this action by the Chamber and will not renew their membership.
One member, Ed Montgomery, resigned for this reason and plans to take the Chamber to court if they do not refund his membership dues.

“Measure U is causing turmoil within the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce, and it’s not surprising since only a narrow majority–52.8%–of the Chamber members were in support of the sales tax per an internal poll. Even the legitimacy of that poll has been questioned by some Chamber members who are incensed by the organization’s support for an anti-business tax.
One Chamber member, Edward Montgomery, resigned in protest from the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce and is requesting a refund of his dues. Mr. Montgomery, of Affordable Paralegal, provided a letter outlining his position and made it available to VNMU.”
