On Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 1:23 A.M., Christopher Moala, a 23 year old resident of Twentynine Palms was traveling west bound on State Route 62 east of Arizona Ave. in the city of Joshua Tree in a 2008 Toyota Scion at a high rate of speed. For unknown reasons, Moala left the roadway.
The vehicle rolled over and burst into flames. Moala was ejected and pronounced decease at the scene at 1:34 A.M. by the San Bernardino County Fire Department.
Two passengers were airlifted to nearby hospitals with injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating this solo vehicle fatality traffic collision.
