Mike continues to wonder…. “Why do they always pick me out of the crowd?”

San Jacinto, CA– On September 17, 2012 at 10:18 PM, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1996 Ford Explorer after it was seen weaving and failing to maintain its lane in the area of Main St. and Camino Los Banos St., in San Jacinto. The driver refused to yield and attempted to flee by running a stop sign and driving recklessly at high speed. The suspect vehicle turned into a cul-de-sac located on Salam Pl., preventing any further travel, and came to a stop.

A pursuit was initiated due to the driver’s actions and the threat to public safety. The suspect and passenger were taken into custody without incident. The passenger was later released. A search of the vehicle revealed three handguns, one of which was loaded and reported stolen from another state, as well as ammunition.

Michael Weir, 28 years old of San Jacinto, was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, outstanding felony warrants, felony evading a peace officer, felon in possession of weapons and ammunition, and possession of stolen property.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case can contact Officer Newby of the San Jacinto Police Department at 951 654-2702.
