Gregg Imus vs Paul Cook: Yucca Valley Republican Forum….Paul Cook was a No Show

Yucca Valley, Ca.-  The local Republican Women’s Club held a candidate forum with President Hilary Slotta acting as mistress of ceremonies. Donna Munoz should have been conducting the forum as 1st Vice President in charge of programs, but perhaps she was vetoed. Another surprise was Slotta introducing Yucca Valley Mayor Dawn Rowe as the “chaplain,” who gave the invocation at the beginning of the event. When was she ordained?

Despite the very long pauses as Slotta shuffled through her notes between introducing the candidates, the program finished below the two hour mark with a half hour set aside to chat with the candidates. The number of candidates participating was thin due to the requirement of being a registered Republican. I will post my coverage of this Forum in two parts upon a review of the DVD.

The featured special appearance for this Forum was Gregg Imus, candidate for the Congressional District, who  received high marks from the audience.  Imus began by introducing his wife and family in attendance before giving his message of being concerned for the future of his children and grandchildren.

The other special guest congressional candidate was Paul Cook, who was a no-show for this event taking place in his  home town. Here is the story by Sharon Gilbert covering the CD8 race:

Examiner: Focus on California’s 8th Congressional District: Cook FTAs again

“In what is becoming the rule rather than the exception, 8th Congressional District candidate, Assemblyman Paul Cook failed to show tonight for yet another head-to-head event with opponent Gregg Imus.  What made this FTA so interesting is that it was a forum sponsored by the Yucca Valley Republican Women Federated in . . . Yucca Valley, the town in which he previously served as mayor.

Current town mayor and Cook staffer, Dawn Rowe, spoke in his place.  She claimed that Cook was on the road but could not make it on time.

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get Mr Cook to show up for your event. Part of serving the public is being accountable to them. Typical bureaucrat that thinks we are his subjects instead of him being our servant.
FWIW Gregg has an overwhelming amount of the people that know him best, his neighbors with yard signs supporting him here in Lake Arrowhead, a small town where we still wave hello at our passing neighbors, proudly display flags with the names and pictures of our local heros serving in our military oversears on lightpoles and don’t have government stoplights telling us how to behave.
We all deserve a representative that listens to our concerns a represents us accordingly.

I suppose that Cook getting caught at his sleazy attempt at character assassination has got him hiding in this Bunker.

Funny thing about Cook is he brags about that Bronze Star with a “V” devise for valor but he is AWOL on any event that his competitor attends. That kind of inability to confront his opposition leads one to question his “grit.”

For Veterans, an Officer with a Bronze Star is nothing new…. What is for sure a lot of Marines died for Cook to attach that “V” Devise to the bronze star.

We have our own John Kerry, running for Congress.

Is Cactus Thorns launching a very dirty campaign? No where else in the County is a war combat veteran being dragged through the mud for his heroic service by way of innuendos and poking vicious fun at war honors. How many cowards want to join in on right wing extremism fun?

Lets keep the campaign to the issues.

I would not expect you to agree with that and that is fine.

Grammarian usually has little to contribute to a discussion and possesses few effective weapons. To compensate, he will point out minor errors in spelling and grammar. Because of Grammarian’s obvious weakness most Warriors ignore him.

“Scots Slant. Here’s a fact. More regulation. Period. Prove that it’s not and I’ll admit your not an idiot. As for the George Washington analogy. Using your criteria of holding an elected position as a prerequisite to holding office is idiocy to say the least. My analogy holds true. Sorry those are the facts, as for you being the designated liberal. Just because your comments are idiotic doesn’t make you a liberal. They just make you an idiot. Trying to insinuate that I dragged your mother into this and lying that I compared Gregg Imus to George Washington shows that your an idiot by every stretch of the imagination.”

Scots Rant, First let me thank you for reminding me that you are the idiot that said those things. I know you toil all the day thinking of your sophomoric responses. Indeed I must have really gotten under your skin. My comment was referring to the current thread since you said “calling” which is in the present tense. Once again I’d like to thank you for reminding me and all that read this thread that you never defended your position because my point is true and you can’t deny it. If you would have responded on the proper thread in a timely manner this would mute point. In context I was referring to this thread. If were to have said I never have said that you were an idiot you would have a point. But that’s not the case. So please respond to the original questions I asked of you instead of playing hide and seek gottcha games. Man up, answer the questions that you reposted and proved that you are indeed an idiot. LOL you think my avatar is a real entity and you talk to it like a little hand puppet.

      Rmutt,

As long as people are not cautious enough to take care of themselves, Big Brother steps in with more regulation.

So to answer your question, yes it is more regulation. Big deal.

As for your analogy that for lack of experience, Washington would never have been president, are we talking about Washington, George? The same guy who commanded the Continental army and the same guy who presided over the convention of delegates who wrote the United States Constitution before he was asked to be president?

By your reasoning, Sarah Palin was fit to hold the office of POTUS as well.

As for your puppet comment, you are the guy who swallows your candidates comments hook, line and sinker, so yes, it appears I am responding to a puppet.

By the way, “Man up?” No need to get that personal….

Rant said: “As long as people are not cautious enough to take care of themselves, Big Brother steps in with more regulation- yes it is more regulation. Big deal.”
Finally you admit that I was correct. Now, where and when should the government draw the line? Let’s take that little cowboy in your avatar. He’s definitely high enough to fall and break his neck, die or suffer paralysis. Shouldn’t the government step in? This little cowboy looks like he had no choice in whether he should be up there in the first place. Maybe his parents in the future will be charged with child endangerment if Big Brother decides they know whats best for the little cowboy.

Please remember. The more power you give anyone, the more power there is to abuse.
No need to get personal? You were the first to play the RaceMutt card. LOL. What kind of world do you come from? Maybe Big Brother in the future will decide that your not smart enough to know how to vote and you’ll lose that right because your kind of thinking is dangerous? Why, because your one of the media puppets that think Sarah Palin is running for office. LOL Talk to the hand, you’re a funny guy.

As far as Washington goes. The context in reply to your post was that Imus does not have a political record since he has not been in elected office as Paul Cook has.
