On March 17th at approximately 2:30 a.m., Deputies assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Station responded to a call of the attempted murder of Edward Brown, 31 living in the 9400 block of Glenaire Court.
Edward Brown reported to deputies that as he was returning home from work at 2:30 a.m., he was approached in his driveway by his ex-girlfriend, identified as Erica Ware, 21.
As he opened the car door, the suspect Erica Ware fired a gun at him. The suspect continued to fire several more rounds at the victim as he exited through the passenger’s side door and ran west on Glenaire Court. The victim was able to escape unharmed. The suspect was believed to have fled the area in her car.
Further investigation revealed the relationship between Edward Brown and Erica Ware had ended approximately one year ago. In January 2010, Brown obtained a restraining order against Ware, alleging she threatened to kill him.
Information received by detectives led them to believe that Erica Ware was in Inglewood at the Diamond Inn Motel. Rancho Cucamonga Detectives and members of the Sheriff’s Crime Impact Team responded to that location and found Erica Ware deceased inside her motel room of an apparent self inflicted gun shot wound. The death investigation is being handled by the Inglewood Police Department.
