Does having representation in Congress from a local Yucca Valley resident mean looking past very important issues?Paul Cook has a record as our assemblyman that needs consideration. What has he done for the town of Yucca Valley on the sewer issue? Did he try to help us with the funding by going to the state or federal government? Did he look to help us with the Colorado River Regional Water Quality Control Board? Did he ask them for help with phase two or three? The answer to all of these questions is no. Paul did serve two terms on our local council, and I wonder if he was unable to help because his record of ignoring the warnings, that this was going to soon be required. Our town council and water board could use all the help they can get to resolve this issue, yet we have had no representation from him.
What would you expect our state government to be working on right now? How about tort reform, wastefully spending, over regulation, welfare reform, failing schools, years of neglect of our road system, I could go on and on. Yet Paul decided to add even more regulation to this Gestapo state we live in with AB 1595. A bill he sponsored to put more regulation on the off-road community. Please take the time to read this bill for yourself. This is not what I want our legislators working on in these trying times.
Our economy here in the Morongo Basin is in real trouble, we cannot afford to loose one more dollar of revenue. The Marine Corps base expansion in to the Johnson Valley off-road area could be the final straw.Yes you guessed it, Paul supports them expanding. Do Cook, Feinstein, Boxer and Lewis all understand that this area is currently PUBLIC land, and in terms of visitations it is about to surpass that of the national park? We desperately need those dollars the off-roaders bring to this community, not to mention the off-road recreation that it affords all of us in California (and it brings visitors from all over the world). We have so little area left open in our desert for all to enjoy. I urge you to think about these issues when you go to the voting booth this year. Just voting for a local resident to represent us does not mean it will help this area.
