Bullhead City, AZ– A Mohave County Jail Detention Officer assigned to the Mohave Valley substation jail facility was arrested by Sheriff’s Office detectives’ Monday afternoon and booked into the Mohave County main jail in Kingman.
Bond was set at $10,000 at an initial court appearance this morning.
Shannon Correll, 25 years of age of Bullhead City, who has been working as a detention officer for just over one year, was charged with one count of unlawful sexual conduct in a correctional facility and one count of false imprisonment. Correll was arrested at his Bullhead City home without incident.
The Sheriff’s Office received information that a female who had been arrested on August 4 th for a domestic violence related incident had been strip searched at the Mohave Valley facility by a male detention officer.
The investigation concluded that during the booking process sometime after 4am on August 4 th, Correll directed the female to a shed outside of the substation facility and conducted an unauthorized strip search.
No physical touching was alleged to have occurred. This type of search is prohibited by jail policy. During the search, Correll also made inappropriate comments to the female inmate.
Correll was additionally served with termination papers Tuesday Morning.
How was a guard with 1 year on the job able to get a female prisoner alone in a shed long enough to strip search her?
Unlawful sexual contact? They should just call it rape.
Terry, nowhere in the story is “unlawful sexual contact” mentioned but “No physical touching was alleged to have occurred” is clearly mentioned. Therefore, no rape. duh!

I know it wasn’t actual rape though it does amount to more than an unlawful search. If the story is true, the guy is just another Chester who I hope would be treated as such.
Again though, who is not doing their job? How did they get out to the shed and why was he not immediately arrested?
