Missing Chicago Man found in Desert

On Monday, August 6, 2012, a missing persons report was made on 37 year old male from the Chicago Illinois area that was traveling from California to the Chicago when he went missing.

On Saturday, August 11, 2012 at about 1:00 A.M. the body of  a male adult matching the description of the missing person was found in the open desert near the community of Ludlow.

An autopsy will be conducted next week to determine the cause of death.

The name is being withheld until positive identification is made. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Department Barstow Station and Coroner Division are investigating the incident.

Bryan M. Porcaro, 37, an account representative with Constellation Energy (an Exelon Company), in Chicago, Ill., experienced car trouble on I-40 5-7 miles west of Ludlow, Calif., in the Mojave Desert Sunday night/early Monday morning. He was driving a black 2007 or ’08 four-door Volkswagen Golf.

He then reportedly drove the car west another few miles before ultimately abandoning it approximately nine miles west of Ludlow. Porcaro is currently on medical leave while undergoing chemotherapy treatments for a rare liver disease at Northwestern University in Chicago. His family believes the medications may have disoriented him at the time of the car breakdown. He had texted family members on Sunday evening that he was looking forward to seeing them and that he was on his way home.

He was traveling with a black Labrador/poodle mix pictured below, who answers to the name of “Ruff”. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Bryan Porcaro or the dog please contact the San Bernadino Sheriff’s Office at 760-256-4838. Reference Number: 081201164.

Porcaro is 6-foot tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has an arm-length tattoo and another that extends down the calf to the ankle.
