Alert! Base Expansion Final Environmental Impact Statement Finished

The Navy’s Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed expansion  is available to the public as of today,  July 27, 2012 on the following website at www.marine.mil/unit/29palms/las. The EIS is also available at the following local libraries: Barstow, Joshua Tree, Lucerne Valley, Needles, Apple Valley, Twentynine Palms, Yucca Valley, and Victorville.

Be aware that the EIS is large file and will take awhile to read. Regulations provide for a 30 day waiting period after the release of the EIS before the agency may take final action. It is during this 30 day period that the public and other agencies can comment.  All comments must be postmarked or received by August 27, 2012 to ensure they become part of the official record.
