Issac Hagerman states the following on his Facebook Page:

Thank you everyone for your support. I am not going to be responding to the hateful attacks and the rumors. I enjoyed my time on the council. This has been an extremely hard year personally. My two sons are my priority as well as my job that I have been extremely blessed with. I have one chance with my boys and they need my full attention. There are going to be viscous attacks to come, please do not respond to them. I know who my friends are and I appreciate all of you very much. Thank you all for the amount of love you have shown me already.

Mr. Hagerman’s resignation is effective Friday 20, 2012

    You might not be aware of this but over the last couple of years Issac and I have kindled a rather warm friendship. Being a smart ass myself, I was immediately drawn to Issac’s unique personality. You can not help but like the guy.

    While others on the blog have slammed him for one reason or the other, I always to the position that the guy is a young go get’er that doesn’t put up with shit from anyone. I like that in my politicians, I like that in my friends.

    Is Issac perfect? Hell no but then, I’m one to judge…. Not! Issac grabbed the bull by the horns, hopped up on its back and gave it the full 8 seconds. He put up with more grief in his short stay on the Yucca Town Council than most people have to put up with their whole life. He took it like a man and came out standing tall.

    What ever is in Issac Hagerman’s future I know he will Stand Tall and survive.

    The guy has me forever as a friend.

        Okay, ever body, revile me. Hate me. Treat me with disgust and loathing. But I am going to say this: Did Issac give those seniors he evicted from his living center in Sky Harbor receive any respect? They had several days to pack their bags and hit the streets. They were all in the community room crying about it. That was cold.

        Personally I have nothing against Isaac. In fact, for the reasons Dan wrote about, I like his spirit and like him. But being a town councilman just wasn’t his bag.

        And there is no scarlet letter about that. It wouldn’t be my bag either. May much good luck come your way Issac. Build on your karma bank.

      He has interrupted the actions of the city as well as tossed old people to the curb. We haven’t picked on him in a long time. I’m waiting for the story he is trying to avoid. I doubt it has anything to do with his kids that he is using for an excuse. Like JJ jr. he thought he was privileged. Above the rest. I’m sorry. He gets what he deserves when held up to public scrutiny.

While the talk gets a lot deeper, I won’t repeat it here. Sometimes a child of privilege gets away with a lot of things over the years. It’s time for it to stop.           So I guess none of us care about old people when none of us stepped up with shelter.
          Now that we are all sinners, to take a position of responsibility for compensation when not qualified to carry out the responsibility is a little more than going out of business, especially when the welfare of others is concerned. That goes for both the old folks home and the city. You don’t quit half way.

            I don’t know about you lone ranger but My Wife and I stepped up all our lives for “old people” We took care of our parents collectively and individually from 1985 until 2011. So don’t even go there with the broad brush of yours.

            Were we qualified to do the right thing and take care of our own? I guess we might not have been qualified but we were “honoring thy Mothers and Fathers” the best we could to the very end.

    This sitting Council has maxed out their allowed appointments of TWO council members, Merl Abel and Robert Lombardo.

    What reason will YV Town Manager Nuaimi come up with this time to arrange for the Council to appoint, AGAIN??

    Save the Town money and put this opening on the November ballot for the remaining two year term. There will be two long term seats open and one short term.

    It’s time for the citizens elect the leaders by voting and NOT another appointment.

    Government Code 36512.
    (b) If a vacancy occurs in an elective office provided for in this chapter, the council shall, within 60 days from the commencement of the vacancy, either fill the vacancy by appointment or call a special election to fill the vacancy. The special election shall be held on the next regularly established election date not less than 114 days from the call of the special election. A person appointed or elected to fill a vacancy holds office for the unexpired term of the former
    incumbent.

    Even if the Town Council were meeting later today, November 6th is less than 114 days from now. Therefore, state law prevents a November 6th election to fill the vacancy. The “next regularly established election date” is March 5th, 2013 as defined by Elections Code.

        Hey Mark, you’re not thinking about pushing for an APPOINTMENT to the council rather than advising the town council to hold a special election for a town leader after the 114 days are you? I’m thinking that may want to do that.

        After all, factually, the council has favor making APPOINTMENTS to the town council rather than pay for special ELECTIONS. Gee whiz that would make three appointments, not to be confused with a democratic popular election.

          I think that 3 appointments is precluded under State Law because that would constitute a quorum of the body as being non-elected.

          The only course of action is Special Election in March as described.

            Therefore, after November 2012 there will be new members on the town council that were elected, and there would not be a “majority” that were appointed. Thus,the next the next regularly established election date not less than 114 days may be March 2012. . . However after the November election and after the 114 days which begins today — there could be a *special election* to fill the vacancy.

            Mark didn’t touch on this.

            Seven months with four council members is just not practicable. What about those 2-2 votes? How are those matters settled?

            It’s difficult to do any meaningful legal research on the web without researching annotated case law because case law interprets the codes — and for that you a law library, or Lexis or some other very expensive cyber research tools.

            @Steve- Thank you for the clarification regarding three appointments creating a quorum.

            Question: IF appointee, YV Councilman Robert Lombardo, is reelected this November his status is changed to “elected” rather than “appointee,” correct?

            If someone else is elected, instead of Lombardo, that will leave only ONE appointee remaining on the YV Town Council, Merl Able.

            In either scenario, I predict YV Town Mgr (Staff,wink-wink) will strongly urge the Council not have the seat vacant for 8 months nor spend the $40,00 or so for a Special Election.

            This will pave the way for the Sky Harbor Four to appoint one of their neighbors, ya think? As the Hi-Desert Star called the last appointing scenario “a Circus,” maybe this time they will provide popcorn and peanuts?

            While Manager Mark Nuaimi provided the link to the Town Press Release in a comment, why didn’t he send it to DanO to post with all the dates and information. Unfortunately, only a few read the comments to the stories posted.

            Did you catch this? No where did Nuaimi cite there would be a Special Election, only the dates for the earliest IF one were called.

            Hmmm. Check with the bookie on this one for the odds, IF, you are a betting man.

      As far as a real man goes..there are very few of them in YV, especially when a Haggardman or a former Brassknuckledfaced ex wife of its, goes on its Facebook page and degrades a Lady, a writer on this awesome blog, gets no respect now or forever. Wonder if the Old Bailey offers first class service to their guests. That is in its future for sure, one cannot hide behind all their sins of treating the elderly who trusted him, misplaced narcotics or total dysfunctionality that stems from the primal scream theory of family. Known theory that like attracts like, mirrors attract same images in circles of life, there has to be changes made in YV management structure sometime soon.

    Steve, thank you for confirming the state law that was cited. Also, since the council has 60 days to schedule the election, the election will be called before the November election. So the conspiracy theory that somehow the council will end up appointing a replacement is simply impossible.

          For the record- Hagerman did not attend the complex YV Town Council meeting last Tuesday. Also, he missed the first budget meeting in June.

          There were two Councilmen that were not prepared for the YV budget adoption at the second meeting in June.

          Well, his nightmare is over as of last Friday,as a councilman, that is.

Your relentless campaign has devastated both Hagerman and our Town as he is now the third Council Member you have driven from service and a replacement this time will take a great deal of trouble.     The consensus of most YV citizens is a great sigh of relief. Hawkin’s crystal ball is a bit cloudy if he is reading tea leaves for the triplets exit. The one common denominator is the arrival of Town Manager, Mark Nuaimi. Three have jumped ship under his command in rough, choppy economic waters. Two jumped for the big positions and bigger earnings as they recognized their opportunity. The third got seasick, never developing his sea legs while wading in a very small, shallow pond of inexperience.The la-la land of FaceBook is providing warm and fuzzy feelings as another small pond to lash out blaming others providing laughable material.

    Patience is a virtue and if we wait a couple of weeks, the truth will surface. I do not believe anyone would quit because he or she was told the office of Mayor would not be in the future, do you?

    Holding office is not a popularity contest and is very demanding of time and energy. Meetings to attend,ribbon cuttings,ceremonies and thick agendas to read and comprehend to contribute to the decision process. A demanding job and young children require even more time and energy.

    Besides, politics is not for the faint of heart. Serving the public is honorable and the public scrutiny is part of the job.

        BTW, the use of the word ass is subjective among many Christians. Though not long ago it would have been considered offensive. Regardless of wether it is appropriate or not, it would not be anti Christian, but among some it would be an unbiblical portrayal of proper christian conduct. Again, it depends on the church and the demographic region. In New York and back east it would not be uncommon to hear that terminology in church. Look no further than asinine |ˈasəˌnīn| to find the short form of this word.

        Sometimes it would be a fitting description of many on this site including Papa.:)

    I do not attend a Bible class.       Though Marge and I did not post a comment in the STAR when you foisted your mulish animosity in there, it made you look very silly. Every one needs an advocate, but you are not there for Issac. Have you anything constructive to say about Issac?

      Your personal animosity in the STAR didn’t fly, and was buried by 99% of the people who were actually rejoicing. More specific to you, those comments in the STAR are far more colorful (that’s the charitable view) than anything posted in CT.

      Don’t you think it’s best to move forward rather than dwell on how people perceive Issac’s resignation. Either that, or speak positively about Issac or his accomplishments — and why he was good for the town.

      Can you do that?

    @Mike-You always seem grouchy and I don’t know why. If you were a baby, I would wonder if your diaper needed changing, you are teething or just hungry? At our age, it might even be constipation and we both may need to increase the dose of Metamucil. What do you think? I have some friends that are grumpy ol’ men and are dealing with aches & pains.

    As for being constipated, I am not. Besides, as you can see with your crystal ball…I have no trouble pulling out “stuff.” (Your words, not mine. TMI)

Please share… By the way, are you also the official spokesman for “our Town?” (ps. I did not hear YV Mayor Rowe say he will be missed or that he was an important member of the Council.)

        Two Councilmen secured well paying jobs, one for $128,000 and the other for $250,000. That is the reason for #1 and #2 resigning. They both admitted they could no longer “Skate” through the meetings and there were not enough hours in the day for both responsibilities. How did the internet trolls cause #1 & #2 to leave? Please explain.

        How is that? How do you say a “replacement this time” will take a great deal of trouble? Simple….call for a special election and three or four candidates will run for office, the voters will cast their votes.

        Hagerman did not read his agendas, he missed important meetings, he did not attend his assigned meetings to represent the Town, he had no experience as an appointed or elected official, he had NO idea of the time required to be a Town Councilman, especially having never attended a Council meeting in over six years. Why don’t you run Mike? Hmmmm….Yucca Valley Councilman Mike Hawkins, sound good to you?

        And lastly you write:

        What do you mean using the word “proud” as in the congratulatory sense? Probably not. Do you mean…”Mission Accomplished?” Trying to understand your closing seven words. Were the reporters of the Bell scandal proud of themselves when they were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their investigative reporting? I think they were proud of themselves, do you?

        In closing, I will use up my last two “Muddles” credit on the books with this statement:

        Sometimes there needs to be adjustments, changes and replacements for the good. That’s life. Not afraid to pull the plug and try a new direction midstream is the mindset of the new generation. Like bumper cars in the night, they bump around in the dark trying to keep going in the direction of Life. Some choose to drive in the opposite direction for the thrills but eventually the futility of that decision sets in and they turn the steering wheel a hard 180 trying hard not to get their bumper car stuck in a corner. Some riders decide to park the bumper car and leave the Amusement Park…

        When the ride is over, we all disembark at the same place where we started. We are born and then we die, it is what we do in between that counts…enjoy the ride!

      Actually I have written nothing that demeans Issac. Namely I’ve pointed out his record of elder abuse at the Hagerman Gardens. Here is but one comment made in the Desert Star that pretty much says says it all:

      “Mike, while he was a councilman, Frank Luckino got the job as the CFO of the Hi Desert Water District. He had a HUGE conflict of interest that he finally recognized, so he quit as a YV councilman. Chad Mayes (after elected a third term YV TC) got a very high paying placement as County Supervisor Rutherford’s Chief of Staff. Three hours of commuting a day and a more than full time job requires him being out of town too much, so he quit as YV town councilman. Isaac Hagerman failed to maintain his agreements with wife, job and his business. After that, he started failing his Town Council assignments. He was downsized on the peripheral assignments of Town Council members and wasn’t making too many of the recent Town Council meetings, not that he was missed because he wasn’t properly prepared. Unlike Isaac, Lori Herbel was always well prepared and did her homework. In your referring to the WalMart SuperCenter proposal, she seemed to be the only town council member who read the EIR. The other four swore and approved that there were only four (yes 4) empty storefronts in all of Yucca Valley. There were far more other lies in the approved EIR and Lori was proven right by the courts. Lori Herbel’s only mistake was not having that Political Action Committee Joshua Springs behind her.” — By idavidgraficks
