On Sunday, July 15, 2012, at about 1:50 p.m., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Police Department responded to the Motel 6 at , regarding a reported major injury traffic collision.
The investigation revealed that a male had crawled under a loaded refrigerator trailer parked within the motel parking lot. The male later identified as 55 years old Scott Spath was apparently sleeping between the rear double wheels of the trailer when the truck’s operator returned, entered the cab of the truck, and drove forward.
The truck driver stopped the truck when he saw the victim in his mirror.
Mr. Spath was transported to Riverside Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Spath is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
