Gregg Imus vs Paul Cook: Sometimes the Little Guys Come In First

Yucca Valley, CA– I spent my Friday afternoon  with a small group of folks talking with Congressional Candidate Gregg Imus. Imus won out against a huge field of candidates. He beat this areas supposed golden boy Paul Cook to come in first. Cook spent Hundreds of thousands of dollars on the campaign only to be whipped like a puppy by a guy whose total war chest  was about $40,000. What won the day was message. Imus seems to have captured the independent spirit of the Liberty Loving 8th Congressional District.

My first impression of Mr. Imus was how personable and down to earth the guy is. Gregg, a tall, healthy fellow, bronzed by working outdoors all his life, with the hands of a Contractor still in the trades, had a strong handshake and looked me right in the eye. He manages to not talk down to a fellow and is quick to make you feel at ease. You feel like he is a long lost friend.

I was struck by the complete difference in approach to this campaign that Gregg Imus has and that of Assemblyman Paul Cook.

While Cook is looking to the establishment PACs to carry the day, Imus is looking to the people $20 here and $10 there to sustain his campaign. Now that’s not to say Gregg Imus would not be up to a fancy party or gathering or two to boost the war chest. One thing for sure he is not stupid.

Now that I have met both candidates I am struck by the stark differences to their approach to public contact. Most of you that have had contact with Paul Cook that are not public officials or his close circle of friends and cronies, know what I mean about his arrogance and aloofness. You do not get that with Mr. Imus. He actually listens.

I think this time around,  while we have two guys with an (R) behind their name running for the 8th Congressional Seat, there is a huge choice we have to make. If you are looking to a man of the people that has the stamina to go the long distance Imus is your man. Both men would work for the district. Imus wants to get government regulation out of the way to prosperity and liberty not pass another stupid 184 page law to remove an apostrophe.

We need a fellow that is in it for the long haul and is working for the People, all of the People not just the few folks that are cronies and big Money out of district contributors. We need someone that has the health and stamina to learn the ropes in Washington and become a asset to the district for the long haul.

Most of you know I backed Brad Metzelfelt, love the guy like a rock, but he did not make the cut. The guy most in line with the 2nd Amendment, Public Lands, OHV issues, liberty, deregulation and the Constitution with Brad is Gregg Imus.

Seems the crestfallen favor in CT to not favor specific candidates is no longer viable.

Are you saying that you have never shown partiality to a candidate on CT?

Does CT have a requirement that any story must be a hit piece and unfavorable to qualify as legitimate?

Okay I accept your comment; it was tagged as an opinion piece. Nonetheless, it is a deviation from accepted practices in CT.

That’s what they do when they don’t like something, they claim it is contrary to this or that on CT.
Branson is not the only one of them that does it, there is one that likes to claim CT is for “local politics” only.
It does only seem that the rules only apply if they don’t agree.
Branson has no qualms about putting up hit pieces on those he does not like and absolves himself by claiming he did not write it, but merely posted it, for “informational purposes only”. Even going so far as to claim he has no opinion on the issue, as though we are all new to CT.
Those on the left are only for that “free speech” thing if you speak what they want you to.

From the few times I have had conversations with Gregg in the last few years I never got the impression that he was anything other than what he appeared to be a face value. A regular guy that has many of the same concerns shared by most of America. That’s why Pappa put √ on his ballot.
