The San Bernardino County Fire Department expanded its Firefighter Apprentice Program earlier this month. This Limited-Term Firefighter Program is a great opportunity for those wishing to begin their careers in firefighting to gain first-hand, on the job experience.

By expanding the Firefighter Apprentice program, the County Fire Department will have an additional 76 firefighter apprentice positions available by mid-2012 that will respond to medical aids, rescues and other emergency and non-emergency situations. In 2011, 10 firefighter apprentices went on to continue their career in the fire service after developing their firefighting and medical aid skills.
