Three Kids Run Down In Crosswalk

Victorville, CA-- On Tuesday morning, April 17, 2012, 3 Brothers age 6, 11 and 13 were on their way to school when they were run down in a crosswalk crossing La Mesa Rd at the corner of La Mesa Rd and Sundown Rd in the City of Victorville.

At approximately 7:08 a.m., Victorville Deputies were dispatched to a report of a vehicle which struck multiple pedestrians on La Mesa Rd near Sundown Rd.

Upon deputies arrival Party #1 was found to have no injuries as a result of the collision. Parties 2, 3, and 4 were found to have serious injuries and were airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Through investigation it was learned that party #1 a 42 year old male of Victorville was driving a 2002 Ford Focus westbound on La Mesa Rd approaching Sundown Rd. Parties 2,3 and 4 (who are all brothers) entered a cross walk on La Mesa Rd attempting to walk across the street on their way to school. Other vehicles which were on La Mesa Rd stopped for the juveniles which were in the crosswalk. Party 1 did not see the juveniles in the crosswalk and struck all three with his vehicle.

La Mesa Rd was closed to traffic in both directions in the area of the collision until approximately 10:17 a.m.

Preliminary investigation does not suggest that alcohol and/or drugs were a contributing factor in this collision.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone with information about the collision is requested to contact Deputy Mooradian at 760-241-2911.
