On 02/23/2010 between the hours of midnight and 2:00 a.m., the suspects were driving around the Wrightwood area in a stolen pickup truck. One of the suspects used a chair to break the window to a local business. The suspects fled the scene when the audible alarm sounded. However, they proceeded to go on a crime spree throughout the community taking property from victims’ vehicles.
The suspects were later observed by one of the victims who notified the Sheriff’s Department while following them to the Chevron gas station at Hwy. 138 and I15, where deputies took Marvin Farfan, 21 and Bianca Ramirez, 19 into custody. Kevin Franco,21 and David Ruiz also 21 and one other suspect fled the area with at least one of the suspects driving a stolen vehicle from a Wrightwood resident. A large amount of stolen property was recovered from the stolen truck and returned to the victims.
The ongoing investigation revealed Franco and Ruiz as suspects and warrants were issued for their arrest. Detectives from the Victor Valley Station contacted Ruiz in the Los Angeles area on 02/26/10 and while taking Ruiz into custody, observed Franco driving in a stolen Mini Cooper. Franco again fled the area and was caught about 16 hours later in Rawlins, Wyoming after fleeing from officers there in the stolen Mini Cooper.
There is still one outstanding suspect who is involved and may be in the Wrightwood or Eagle Rock area of Los Angeles. Anyone who knows the identity and / or whereabouts of this suspect is encouraged to contact Detective Toll at the Victor Valley Station at (760) 246-1000.
