Lake Havasu Family lost in Air Crash

Mohave County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue have recovered the victim’s remains of the plane crash in the Rawhide Mountains, approximately 8 miles west of Alamo Lake. Early Thursday (11/10) evening, at about 5:00 p.m., the remains were recovered. The Mohave County Medical Examiner in Lake Havasu City will be attempting to make positive identification of the victims. The plane is a Cessna 182 and believed to have been piloted by Donald John Mesisca, 53, of Lake Havasu City. Authorities also believe that Mesisca’s wife Rosie Ruth Mesisca, 52, and their son Brett Michael Mesisca, 20, were onboard. Refer to MCSO Press Release:

Mohave County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue was contacted by the State Department of Emergency Management in Phoenix  regarding an overdue/missing plane out of Lake Havasu City Wednesday (11/9) afternoon.  Late Wednesday (11/9) morning Civil Air Patrol launched and located wreckage of a plane in the area of Alamo Lake.

At about 1:35 p.m., Search and Rescue members were deployed to the area.   Due to the rugged terrain ground units were unable to access the wreckage site.  Arizona Department of Public Safety Ranger out of Flagstaff responded to the site, approximately 8 miles west of Alamo Lake, and confirmed the plane was the missing plane.  The occupants onboard did not survive the crash.

Authorities believe there were three people in the plane.  The rugged terrain and evening hours prohibited the recovery team to the scene Wednesday (11/9) evening.  MCSO had security at the scene all night and MCSO will be recovering the victims today with the assistance of DPS Flagstaff Ranger.  The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) have been notified of the accident and are responding to investigate further to determine the cause of the crash.
