Nutcracker Actor Auditions Nov 19JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Hi-Desert Cultural Center in Joshua Tree announces an incredible opportunity for actors and actresses in the Desert and Inland Empire regions. Celebrating almost 50 years of theatre, the Cultural Center will hold actor auditions Saturday, November 19th, 2011 for this year’s holiday spectacular performance of The Nutcracker.  As the Joshua Tree Philharmonic orchestra brilliantly realizes Tchaikovsky’s famed musical masterpiece, this unique reader’s theatre presentation, directed by Justin Blake, will bring to life the magical Christmas fairy tale of the Nutcracker Prince and the evil Mouse King.

“When Maestro Radnich came to me with the concept of integrating the story of The Nutcracker in the form of a staged reading to accompany the orchestra, I thought it was brilliant!” exclaimed Director Justin Blake.  “We’ve been working on a new original script because most people don’t actually know the real story of this iconic tale.”

Actor auditions will take place at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater on Saturday, November 19, 2011 beginning at 1:30pm and are by appointment only.  Actors interested in auditioning for this new staged reading of The Nutcracker may do so by sending an email to info@hidesertculturalcenter.com or by calling 760.365.1325 to setup an appointment time.  Actors are encouraged to bring a picture and resume of themselves to the audition.  Actors are to anticipate performances on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the second and third weekends of December. Audition materials will be available during the time of auditioning.
